Although it may be ‘hip’ to be green, it is not a fad. Since we cannot stop growth, we must grow wisely. Our footprint and the decisions we make will affect our children and the generations that follow. It should not be seen as an inconvenience, but instead our responsibility to do the right thing. Being green helps both the environment and our family’s health.
The best thing about green building is there are dozens of ways to ‘be green’ and build responsibly. A number of the things don’t cost anything, they just require forward thinking.
When choosing to build a house with Desert Green, we will ask that you please work with us to do as much as you can. The ‘shade of green’ you choose is up to you. Below we have listed three shades: lime green,
olive green,
forest green. The items listed under lime green will not add extra expense to your budget.
If you care to invest some money into the ‘greening of your home,’ you can choose all or some of the items under olive green. These items will add some money to your construction budget, but by no means break the bank. Although many of these items will not reduce the daily operating expense of your household, they will make your home a healthier place to live.
If cost can be balanced with ‘doing the right thing,’ take a look at the forest green list. These items will not only make your home healthier, but reduce the long-term daily operating expense and your environmental footprint.
Desert Green is continually adding new ways to be green. A number of the ideas have been learned from our clients. You choose what you want. Desert Green will gladly build to LEED, Energy Star or TEP Guarantee Standards.
